What is Candidiasis Mucocutaneous?
Candidiasis Mucocutaneous refers to the various disorders of immune system which is caused by a fungus from the candida family which expand diffuse and constant kind of infection. It mainly affects mouth, nails, skin, and also to the other organs. Candidosis, chronic mucocutaneous are the synonyms of Candidiasis Mucocutaneous.
Causes: It is caused by the fungus from the candida family and also because of failure of immune system which protect the body from infection and virus.
Symptoms of Candidiasis Mucocutaneous
- Oral thrush over the mouth, tongue and throat.
- Thrush lesion may occur on the esophagus.
- Lesions on the vocal cord which causes hoarse voice.
- Pain, swelling and reddened on fingernails and toenails.
- Greenish/brown lesion under the nails.
- Reddened and irritation on the area like arms, groin, breasts, vagina etc.
- Granulomas lesion on the skin,scalp but not seen usually on the face, hands and feet's.
- Problem of hepatitis and Cirrhosis are rarely present.
- Cornea and eyelids may also infected.
Treatment of Candidiasis Mucocutaneous
- Treatment is classified into three group
- Antifungal agents
- Immunologic therapies
- Combination therapy
- Systemic antifungal therapy may be used single or with immunomodulatory agent.
- Immunologic therapies are essential to correct underlying immune deficiency.
- Transfer factor is used to improve cell-mediated immune dysfunction.
- Some drugs such as Ketoconazole, Amphotericin B are prescribed as essential.
- Clotrimazole troches (candy) or Nystatin solution are useful for oral thrush.
- Corticosteroid or antihistamine creams is useful for the rash when there is pain and itching in this.
- Consult your doctor about some supplements like vitamin C, vitamin A, beta-carotene, zinc, thymus extract.
