Dermatofibroma- Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and Home Remedies
What is Dermatofibroma?
Dermatofibroma is also known as histiocytoma,fibrous histiocytoma or sclerosing hemangioma. Dermatofibroma is a small, red or brown bumps in the skin. Dermatofibroma is mostly appear on the legs and arms that range in size from about 0.5 to 1 cm. It is mostly seen in womenthan men and the ratio of male to female is 1:4. It is usually seen in young adulthood. . It is due to a non-cancerous growth of dermal dendritic histiocyte cells.
Causes of Dermatofibroma

- Injury
- A prick of a thorn
What are the symptoms of Dermatofibroma?
- Itching and tenderness
- Hard lumps under the skin
- They are darker for individuals with darker skin
- Raised from the skin and may bleed if damaged
DermatofibromaTreatment
- Removal can be done surgically with local anesthesia.
- Cryosurgery may also be used to remove a dermatofibroma.
- Surgical shaving of the top, punching out the center and may be freezing with liquid nitrogen can be done.
- Apply Milk of Magnesia one on for ten minutes. Rinse off.
- Add about 2 to 3 drops of Benzotn to a mug of cold water. Rinse face with this. It is antibacterial.
- Metastatic carcinoma of the skin.
