What is Erythema Chronicum Migrans (Lyme Early)?

Lyme disease is due to infection with a spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi. Lyme disease is spread by the bite of the tiny tick. Erythema migrans can last for a few days. It is painful, hot to touch and itchy.In U.S. Lyme disease is most prevalent in areas with heavy deer population. The tick takes up to 24 hours to attach and then takes 48 hours for the Borrelia burgdorferi to proliferate within the tick and then spread back into the host. It is appear most common in the inguina, axilla, behind the knee. The rash occurs one week to one month after tick bite in 50-70% of patients. Lyme disease occurs in temperate regions of North America, Europe, and Asia.

Causes of Erythema Chronicum Migrans (Lyme Early)

  • Lyme early caused by an Ixodes tick passes on the germ.
  • Tiny ticks can cause Lyme disease.
  • Erythema Chronicum Migrans caused by spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi.
  • Lyme disease is caused by Gram-negative spirochetal bacteiar from the genus Borreli

What are the symptoms of Erythema Chronicum Migrans (Lyme Early)?

  • Lyme disease appears a rounded red rash at the place the tick bit.
  • Malaise, low-grade fever, fatigue, headaches
  • Muscle or joint aches and pains
  • Patient have multiple 2-4 cm annular red plaques
  • Carditis, neurological disease, arthritis, acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans

Erythema Chronicum Migrans (Lyme Early) Treatment

  • Tetracycline family drugs are given to adults.
  • Penicillin is given to children.
  • Antibioticks are more effective for this disease.
  • Treated with oral doxycycline for 3 weeks.
  • Antibacterial therapy is useful in the management of Lyme disease
  • Intravenous cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, or benzylpenicillin is useful for Lyme disease associated with moderate to severe cardiac or neurological abnormalities.
