Head Lice Prevention



Head lice is also known as pediculosis. Head lice are parasitic wingless insects. Head lice do not spread disease. It is curable using some prevention and medicines. Head lice is appear in human and animals also. Head lice is mostly seen in the children's having the age in between of 3 to 10 years. Head Lice is occur due to using infected comb, towels, pillows etc.and some resting head person to person.

The prevention for head lice are as follows:

  • Never spray pesticides on furniture, pets, carpets, other household items to control head lice.
  • Do not use comb, pillow of the affected head lice person.
  • Remove all nits using a fine-tooth louse comb.
  • A combination of safe shampooing and lice combing will reduce head lice problems.
  • To wash child's clothing and bedding in hot water and vacuum to remove the head lice.
  • Do not rest head to other person who has affected the head lice.
  • Regularly clean things that child's head has direct contact.
  • Dry clean any clothing that isn't machine washable.
  • Daily head checks and nit removal until infestation is gone.
  • Examine household members and close contacts of a person with head lice, and treat if infested.
  • Children should be instructed that to do not share hats, clothing with their classmates.
