What is Candidiasis (includes Granuloma)?
Candidiasis (includes Granuloma) is an uncomfortable and itchy infection which is caused by the yeastlike fungus Candidaalbicans. It is mostly occur in the various part of the body like vagina, throat, mouth, skin folds, navel, penis, and nail beds and should kept in check by bacteria whish is usually present. It is also known as candidosis, moniliasis.
Causes: yeastlike fungus Candidaalbicans is the common cause of Candidiasis.
Candidiasis (includes Granuloma) as a cause
Candidiasis may cause to following disease-
- Rash and nappy rash
- Sexually transmissable disease
- Vaginal discharge
- Paronychia
- Oral candidiasis
- Dyspareunia
- Pruritus
- Dysphagia
- Endocarditis
- Liver granuloma
- White lesion on oral mucosa
- Aseptic meningitis etc.
Symptoms of Candidiasis (includes Granuloma)
Symptoms depends on the condition of the disease that weather it is soft or severe
1. In women symptoms are -
- Women can experience burning of the vagina at the time of urinating and it becomes very painful.
- Feeling anxiety throughout and after the sexual intercourse.
- Frustration and itching of vagina.
- Itching and burning of vulva
- Painful intercourse
- Redness and swelling of the vulva
- Vaginal discharge present some time and when it is present it is like thick, whitish-gray Discharge and watery to thick in consistency.
2.In men symptoms are -
- Symptoms related to the infection may not experienced by men.
- Burning sensation of penis and it is also during intercourse.
- Transient rash
- Red patches and blisters at the penis and around the foreskin.
- Severe itching and pain
Following symptoms can seen in both women and men -
- Burning, itching and cracking on the skin.
- Red inflammation of the skin which is painful and containing pus.
- Shiny, pink rash with a scaly in the fold of the skin.
- Painless white patches in the mouth or throat and painful swallowing and it is complication of the AIDS.
Treatment of Candidiasis (includes Granuloma)
- Antifungal drug is very useful treatment for candidiasis.
- Lozenges like clotrimazole or mouthwashes like Nilstat or Nitrostat are prescribed as useful treatment for the oral candidiasis.
- Antifungal creams may used to treat skin infection.
- For inflamed skin lesions corticosteroid creams are helpful.
- For baby Bottle nipples should not use.
- Uses of absorbent diapers and frequent changing of diapers can reduce risk of diaper rash.
- Plastic pants is not suggested because it do not allow air circulation over the diaper.
- Some antifungal creams or suppositories such as Monistat, Gyne-Lotrimin, and Mycelex are helpful for the vaginal candidiasis.
- If any girl recur this problem then she should tell her doctor about recommended drugs like Vagistat-1, Diflucan.
- Antifungal therapy may be used at the time of chemotherapy.
- Diabetes mellitus must be controlled by medication and dietary changes.
