Chancroid- Symptoms, Causes, Treatment and Home Remedies

What is Chancroid?

Chancroid is a disease which is sexually transmitted caused by the the STD bacterium Hemophilus ducreyi. It is characterized by painful primary ulcer and it is occur as pimple, chancre, sore, or ulcer on the genital area. It is common in the tropical countries.

Causes of Chancroid

Chancroid can occur because of two reason

  • It can transmitted at the time of sex by the infected person.
  • It can transmitted when fluids get discharge from the ulcer and it touch to the other part of the body or to the skin of another person.

Symptoms of Chancroid

  • Symptoms normally occur within 10 days of contact they unusually expand earlier than 3 days and later than 10 days.
  • It start with ulcer which is as tender, elevated bump, or papule and it is filled with pus.
  • This ulcer is soft to touch. The word soft chancre is used to describe the chancroid sore.
  • These ulcers may be very painful for male but for female it is not known.
  • Women are unaware of lesion because of asymptomatic nature of chancroid in women.
  • Occurrence of Painful lymph glands is sure in untreated cases.

Treatment of Chancroid

  • Antibacterial soap and water should be used to clean the local area.
  • Uses of antibiotics such ciprofloxin, trimetropin,erythromycin are helpful in reducing symptoms and preventing transmission.
  • Buboes should be drained by the health care provider.
  • Patient should not involve in sexual activity.
  • Safe sex practices must be encouraged.
  • Ciprofloxacin and azithromycin are powerful for this disease.
  • Medicine such as Azithromycin, Ceftriaxone, Erythromycin, Ciprofloxacin are prescribed as essential for the treatment of this disease.
