What is Eosinophilic Granuloma?
Eosinophilic Granuloma is also known as histiocytosis X. Eosinophilic Granuloma is a type of xanthomatosis appeared by the presence of rarefactions of cysts in one or more bones. This disease begin with disorder in children's and adults. It is mostly occurs in children's having the age of 5 to 10 years. The male to female ratio is 2:1. EG is symptomatic. It is allergic disease Granuloma is abnormal increase in the certain immune cells. This disease also occurs in animals.This disease is rare disease.
Causes of Eosinophilic Granuloma
- Presence of pink staining granules.
- Extra immune cells
- Disorder pulmonary histiocytosis X
- Genetic pattern
What are the symptoms of Eosinophilic Granuloma?
- Local pain, swelling
- Tenderness and fever
- Leukocytosis
- Solitary painful bone lesions
- Bone pain
- Irritability
- Increased amount of urine output
- Cough
Eosinophilic Granuloma Treatment
- Chemotherapy is the best treatment.
- An injection of long acting corticosteroid is given every 2 weeks.
- Radiation therapy may also be used for the treatment.
- Children's give the medications like Cyclophosphamide, Etoposide.
- In horses, solitary lesions may be treated with systemic antibiotics, surgical excision, or sublesional corticosteroid injections.
- XRT-low dose irradiation of the lesion is used.
- Biopsy may be used to cure the disease.
- Therapies like fatty acids using a combination of evening primrose oil and fish oil.
