Erythema Marginatum Treatment

  • Erythema Marginatum is treated with a ten-day course of antibiotics by mouth.
  • A 10-day course of penicillin by mouth or a single injection of penicillin G may used to treated the disease.
  • Anti-inflammatory agents will improve mild carditis.
  • Medications including diazepam, haloperidol are used to treat the disease.
  • Anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin or corticosteroidsare used to reduce inflammation.
  • Low doses of antibiotics such as penicillin, sulfadiazine, or erythromycin over the long term to prevent the disease from returning.
  • Skin biopsy may also used in some patients for early diagnosis of rheumatic fever.
